BOWLING

Chairman: Bob Taggart and Doug Anderson

Bowling became one of the SIR activities in Mission Trail Branch #35 almost from the start. We have a great time every week getting together to bowl and rehash some time tested jokes. Another bonus of bowling is that it never gets rained out.

We bowl on a handicap system, so all bowlers have an equal chance winning the weekly and season team and individual prizes. Bowlers are assigned to teams which compete for the season (4 months) on the handicap basis. Each season, teams are revised.

In 1980 Marty Mathieson, that year's Big Sir, donated a trophy to be won by the bowler with the highest handicap series during the calendar year. The trophy has been awarded each year since and is held by the winner for one year.

As a member of a league, you also have access to the Alley for games at a discount, if you think practice will help you or if you just want to bowl more.

Our league bowls every Tuesday at Homestead Lanes at the corner of Homestead and Stelling Rd. in Cupertino, starting at 1:00 PM; practice lanes are available for 10 minutes. All SIR members are invited to join the group; teams are set up with a vacancy in order to accommodate new members at any time.
